From Piano to DAW
I started making music with a free, open source DAW I found online called LMMS. It was a great tool to learn, but only took me so far. When I decided to buy Logic Pro, my entire landscape of music creation vastly widened. A song can come from a feeling, a melody that pops into my head, a scene from a movie or video game, but what makes it my own is when I open my DAW and start that first track.
I started young as a classically trained pianist, eventually shifting to jazz in high school where I learned to listen, improvise, and find connection within sound. That foundation still stands, and as I shift to a primarily electronic environment my attention shifts to wave forms, stylized mixes, and how one track can be balanced and connected with all of those on top of it.
I'm fascinated by the way sound can create atmosphere, emotion, and convey itself as its own language. When I listen to music on my own, I'm constantly searching to relive that high of feeling encapsulated by a perfect mix, seamless transition and beautiful composition.
When I compose, I only have one goal in mind: to make something I would actually listen to myself.
This website tracks my progress of creation and expression, how my interests and taste have evolved alongside my music, and (hopefully) the improvement of my sound.
